Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is good news for Tamil superstars!Unlike his predecessor, Anbumani Ramadoss, he has no problem if hero or villain light up on screen!Azad told a television news channel- “I think cinema is a form of entertainment, and part of it is showing larger-than-life characters on screen. In most of films there are scenes of rape and arson, which by any account is more heinous than smoking”.The Health Minister is very clear that he has no pet schemes (a dig at Anbumani, who had a running battle with SRK for puffing on screen), and is clear that he wants to pursue only policies that could be implemented.Says Azad: “I have better things to do than running after heroes who smoke on screen”.It has come as a relief to Kollywood, where superstar’s love to light up for style and to show their manliness. Now Ajit can light up his expensive Guantanamera, Cuban cigars in Saran’s Asal (the promotional stills from the film has him with an unlighted cigar!).Dhanush can puff on his Madurai ‘Beedi’ in Vetrimaran’s Aadukalam, and villains like Prakash Raj, Kishore and Sampath can light up without a care!
